Carmen Sebe SeedBlink

Carmen Sebe, SeedBlink's CEO

"At SeedBlink, we believe diversity is important. We value diverse perspectives and focus on building lasting, trusting relationships that transcend beyond the ‘immediate’ - with our team and our community. For all women in tech, if you want something, go get it. Be curious and challenge yourself. I am constantly learning as technology changes rapidly. Just like in investments, where diversification is key, I agree with the idea that building an experienced portfolio is more valuable than a career path because it allows you to constantly discover new experiences and roles and develop your identity. And you can ask for help by seeking out your community. I appreciate The Recursive's initiative to highlight ambitious women who are conquering tech territories and inspiring others along the way.”

This is only the beginning of mapping out the female startup ecosystem in Romania. Please feel free to contact The Recursive Newsroom with updates or names we should add to the list → [email protected]

EduTech

„As the edtech market becomes more and more atomized in Europe, the winning solutions will be of those who manage to demonstrate day-to-day usage, thus overcoming the limited adoption rate of technology, which has slowed the transformation of education over the past decade. Integration will play a significant role in simplifying users’ access to several complementary tools, with one single login, and we will see more initiatives aimed at raising the digital competencies of teachers. I believe edtech players should be aware of the significant social responsibility bearing on their shoulders and prove their commitment to solving long-standing issues such as access to quality education, reducing school dropout rates, and diminishing the functional illiteracy rate.”

FinTech

“The Romanian fintech landscape has been on a growth trend. But it has a big gap to overcome between rural and urban areas when it comes to adopting digital services in finance. I see this as both an opportunity and a challenge. The opportunity is that there is ample space to improve and grow in an industry that is already taking over consumer habits and has been in focus with local and European regulators. At the same time, we know this will not be an easy task to challenge. The upside of fintech is that once the consumer has adopted a digital path and trusts the journey, he will never return to his old ways of banking.”

TravelTech

"There are two major trends valid worldwide: experiential travel and domestic travel due to Covid 19. This summer, Romanians preferred traveling inside the country, having a focus on quality and exploration. The current booking platform landscape doesn't fit the needs of the key consumers. The generic platforms have a "one size fits all" approach, which is scalable, but doesn’t address experience seekers. Hyper Specialized platforms have emerged as an alternative, focusing on a niche: local, adventure, luxury. The players in the Travel Tech sector will have to address the consumers' key needs when it comes to finding and planning a trip: time-saving, value, and customizability."
