In a Nutshell

From University Spin Off to a Key Player in the Sector

Wingtra, founded in 2016 as a spin-off from the ETH Zurich Autonomous Systems Laboratory, is specializing in commercial drones for terrain mapping. Their flagship product, the WingtraOne, is Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) drone that delivers survey-quality aerial data. It is used in various industries in both the commercial and defense sectors.

One of the key specifications of Wingtra’s solutions is the integration of data collection equipment, data processing and provision of intuitive software for their operation. This combination aims to lower the engineering expenses related to producing accurate 2D and 3D models.

The company’s solutions are used by US companies and institutions such as NASA, CEMEX, Rio Tinto, as well as the defense sector, including the US Air Force.

Investor’s Perspective

“Our investment in the Swiss company Wingtra is not only a matter of providing the necessary capital. As RKKVC, we have excellent conditions and opportunities to not only accelerate Wingtra’s development in the commercial sector, but also to expand its operations in new sectors, including defense”, shared Mateusz Bodio.

Founded and managed by Bodio, RKKVC is part of a single-family office. The fund is based in Warsaw, Poland, but invests directly in startups throughout Europe and the United States. Their main focus is on software companies, mainly deep tech and B2B SaaS, being  open to breakthrough companies from other areas.

“We have developed an appropriate cooperation strategy that includes using our extensive network of contacts and providing support on many levels, which will certainly contribute to the dynamic development of the company. Our vision of cooperation goes beyond the traditional framework of investment – we are committed to a long-term partnership that will enable Wingtra not only to develop technologically, but also to effectively adapt to changing market needs and global challenges”, he added.
