Clippings is a UK-based platform that helps designers manage, deliver, and install their interior projects. It simplifies their product sourcing process and how they communicate with their team, and it takes care of the boring stuff like multiple quote requests, orders, invoices, and timelines.
In August Clippings was acquired by the New York-based online marketplace for searching and sampling design, architecture, and construction Material Bank. This opened the door for US expansion for Clippings. They are planning to grow their R&D team, based in Sofia. “We have the capital to grow our business, our team, and to invest heavily in Bulgaria”, says Adel Zakout, the co-founder of the company.
The Recursive met with the co-founder and managing director of Clippings Adel Zakout, who is both an architect and a tech entrepreneur. Born in Dubai to a Bulgarian mother, he spends his time between London and Sofia. Before Clippings, he founded several other endeavors, such as the Wikipedia for architects – OpenBuildings.com, the digital agency Despark, and the gourmet burgers chain Boom!Burgers, operating in Bulgaria.
