Polish Proteine Resources, a biotech startup specializing in functional pet nutrition, has announced a new investment round with participation from Radix Ventures. The fresh capital extends the €9.5 million grant and equity financing the company received in July 2025 from the European Innovation Council (EIC) Accelerator, bringing Proteine Resources’ total funding to nearly €12 million this year.
A new standard for alternative proteins in pet food
At the core of Proteine Resources’ innovation is EntoPro™, a patented alternative protein ingredient designed to elevate both flavor and nutritional value in pet food. The company holds patents protecting its nutrient-transfer process derived from mushrooms.
According to the company, EntoPro™ offers strong palatability, with tests indicating that more than 80% of dogs and cats prefer food containing the ingredient. It also provides a nutritional profile comparable to beef, delivering a full amino acid range. In addition, EntoPro™ includes prebiotic properties that may help support gut health.
“Science confirms that the gut is the second brain, and we believe animals deserve the very best,” said Bartłomiej Roszkowski, co-founder and co-CEO of Proteine Resources. “EntoPro™ is not just an ingredient but the foundation of our Dual-Action Gut Health system, combining prebiotics and postbiotics to support health at the source.”
The first market-ready functional formulations are planned for launch under private label partnerships in Q1 2026, as the startup moves toward commercialization.
Funding for production, research, and market expansion
The secured funds aim to accelerate the construction of the world’s first fully autonomous alternative protein factory, as well as the expansion of a pilot facility in Poland’s Mazowieckie region. The upgrades will increase production capacity tenfold to 100 tons annually.
“We asked ourselves a simple question: would we want to eat the same protein pellets every day without fully understanding what’s inside?” said Roszkowski. “If we want what’s best for our animals, we must redefine the foundation of their nutrition.”
In addition to scaling infrastructure, Proteine Resources plans to invest in clinical research, development of functional pet health products, and the commercialization of its flagship ingredient. The company is also preparing for expansion into European markets.
“Radix Ventures’ decision to invest in Proteine Resources was clear the moment we met the founders,” said Wojtek Ratymirski, Partner at Radix Ventures. “They combine deep biotech experience with the ability to scale globally—rare qualities in the deep-tech sector. Their fully autonomous, AI-driven production platform and circular economy model make Proteine Resources one of the most promising players in the sustainable alternative protein market.”
