€9.52 million Series A to transform mental health support
Founded in 2021, the Czech-US Upheal brings the first AI-powered mental health platform for clinicians to save time through note-taking and transcribing sessions, secure video calling, and organizing the data into summaries, highlights, and other analytics.
CEO Juraj Chrappa’s personal story gave the foundation to the startup, realizing the importance of access to mental health support and the opportunity to make a difference by improving the tools available for provides. Later on, Chrappa co-founded Upheal together with Martin Horváth, both Slovaks, living in the Czech Republic.
Upheal announced that they raised a €9.52 million Series A round. This round brings the funding to a total of €13.65 million.
“We believe every mental health provider should have access to tools that bring better balance to their lives,” said Chrappa. “With our free plan, we’re ensuring that all providers can save time and reduce burnout, ultimately increasing access to mental health care for those who need it most.”
Making mental healthcare more accessible
The current round was led by Headline with participation from Credo Ventures and Kaya Ventures, bringing our total funding to €13.65 million.
“Upheal addresses one of the most critical challenges society faces today: making mental healthcare more accessible. It’s a very tangible AI use case and embodies what we always hope technology can be—automation not as a replacement for humans but as an opportunity for enhancement. Therapists and patients can spend more time together, improving overall outcomes. We’re excited to support Juraj, Martin, and the Upheal team as they lead a much-needed shift towards a more balanced, efficient, and effective mental healthcare for all,” said Christian Miele, General Partner at Headline.
The company secured their seed round in February this year. According to their data, Upheal has an almost threefold increase in providers using the platform.
