Czech-founded startup E2B has successfully raised $21 (€18.16) million Series A. The round was led by Insight Partners, alongside Decibel Partners, Sunflower Capital, KAYA VC, and angel investors, including Scott Johnston, former CEO of Docker.
E2B aims to solve this by offering instant-on, secure cloud machines with specialized tools, aiming to enable AI agents to execute complex, multi-step tasks seamlessly and safely.
E2B lands Series A to standardize AI agent infrastructure
E2B is working toward a future where AI agents interact with diverse environments, Linux interpreters, Windows VMs, Chrome browsers, across any infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure, Cloudflare, or on-prem). The company plans to standardize agentic workflows through a shared, modular architecture that is as universal as web protocols.
Last year, the startup announced their $11.5M (€10.6) in a seed round, led by Alessio Fanelli of Decibel Partners.
With its Series A funding, E2B plans to expand its engineering, product, and go-to-market teams in San Francisco, accelerate development of its sandbox platform, and meet growing global demand.
“Just as an iPhone app needs iOS, every agent will rely on its own secure and dedicated computing environment,” the company noted. “In 10 years, we see AI agents becoming as commonplace as apps on your iPhone, seamlessly integrated into daily tasks.”
Childhood friends aim to help developers
Founded in 2023 by longtime friends Tomáš Valenta and Václav Mlejnský, while studying at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, the duo transitioned their focus to computer vision and, more recently, began creating tools designed to support developers.
“Agents remain bottlenecked by inadequate, non-scalable environments,” shared the founders on their company’s blog. “Enterprises expect to automate 15–50% of manual tasks, but current systems simply don’t give AI the tools or secure compute they need to deliver.”
