Bulgarian project management startup Ora.pm has been acquired by U.S.-based productivity platform ClickUp, marking a significant milestone for the Sofia-founded company. While the acquisition was finalized quietly in 2024, it was publicly announced only in May 2025 due to internal transition planning.
The acquisition is not a traditional merger or buyout, but rather a team integration, with Ora.pm’s team of four joining ClickUp to work on new features and custom enterprise solutions.
Startup agility sparked the deal
According to Ora.pm founders, the strategic alignment between the two companies made the acquisition a natural step.
“Both ClickUp and Ora shared a common vision for the future of work and productivity,” said Nikolay Yanev, co-founder of Ora.pm.
Founded in 2015, Ora.pm gained popularity among agencies, consultants, freelancers, game developers, and marketing teams. According to their data, over the years, the platform attracted more than 180,000 registered users, with over 60,000 active users and 3,000 paid customers at its peak. Ora also maintained a strong community of free users, with over 5,000 individuals still using the platform monthly as of late 2024.
With the integration underway, Yanev also shared that their team “is working on new and exciting features in ClickUp and also custom features for enterprise clients, while Ora’s platform will sunset in June of 2026”.
Many of Ora’s largest clients have already migrated to ClickUp, and the rest are being guided through the transition.
