Greek Deals Closed in H2 2024: Fundraising Slows After Stronger H1

Greek Deals Closed in H2 2024: Fundraising Slows After Stronger H1, TheRecursive.com
~

The second half of 2024 saw a slowdown in funding for Greek startups, both in the number of deals and total investment. In the first half of the year, there were nine funding rounds exceeding €1M, totaling €143.4M. This included Blueground’s €42M Series D and Hellas Direct’s €30M Late Seed round. In contrast, H2 2024 saw just seven notable deals, amounting to only €37.7M.

These startups share key characteristics: they were founded by one or two co-founders, have Greek venture capital firms as investors, and employ Greek professionals, regardless of their headquarters’ location.

Additional deals in H2 2024 involved US-based startups Numa, Connectly.ai, and RetinAI, which have Greek co-founders but do not meet all the above criteria. If we include their funding, the total raised by Greek-founded startups in H2 2024 rises to €95.4M.

Overall, in 2024, a total of 19 Greek-founded startups worldwide secured €238.8M in funding.
