Organizations are facing increasing demands for agility, scalability and performance. Traditional IT infrastructures often struggle to keep pace with these demands, which results in complex management, high costs and potential security risks. To meet these challenges, businesses are increasingly turning to cloud solutions.

Among them, hybrid cloud, which combines the best features of on-premises infrastructure and public cloud services, has become a popular choice.

The increasing digitization of economies is forcing businesses to adapt to a new reality. What sets digitally advanced companies apart is their flexibility and agility, which allow them to respond quickly to changing market conditions. This approach generates more revenue than the market average, offering a real competitive edge through hybrid cloud and hyperconverged infrastructure.

Hypreconverged Infrastructure, A Futureproof Solution

A hyperconverged infrastructure, HCI, is an extremely helpful solution in the pursuit of an optimal, flexible, secure and competitive digital environment. This modern approach to building IT infrastructure is essentially an integrated computing platform that combines computing power, storage and network resources.

An example of such a solution is Lenovo ThinkAgile HCI, a complete implementation of hyperconverged infrastructure created by Lenovo in cooperation with Nutanix. It’s a ready-made, easy-to-deploy and easy-to-manage digital ecosystem that combines Lenovo’s high-performance servers powered by Intel® Xeon® Scalable processors with Nutanix‘s advanced software to manage computing power, storage and networking within a single, cohesive and integrated environment.

Companies investing in hybrid cloud and HCI are already experiencing a quantifiable competitive advantage in the market. As part of their IDC’s latest report from January 2024, they surveyed 100 CIOs on the use of hybrid cloud for business development in Romania.

48% of CIOs prefer AI workloads, especially in hybrid cloud, although 45% say they lack the needed IT support to deploy AI technologies successfully.

As it turns out, companies that have decided to invest more in IT infrastructure stand out for their increased rate of revenue generation. Among the most digitized companies in the Romanian market, as many as 24% reported double-digit revenue growth in 2023. In comparison, the corresponding percentage for all organizations was only 12%.

Facilitating A Sustainable Transition

Of course, the transition to AI doesn’t take place overnight. It’s a process that invests selectively and strategically in key enabling technologies, such as specialized computing infrastructure such as hybrid clouds and hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI), or AI software platforms that can be used across the organization in a scalable and efficient manner. IDC’s survey results show that organizations in EMEA are most interested in GenAI use cases focused on automation, workforce management and cybersecurity.

The report highlights that using automation and AIOps to consolidate workloads is key to achieving infrastructure efficiency goals, underlining several benefits. Among these, the most notable ones are that companies using automation and AIOps experience better scalability, speed of operations, predictability of the market and business environment, quality of service and products, efficiency of operations or, finally, resilience to threats and changing market conditions.

The move to hybrid cloud and hyperconverged infrastructure allows for increased flexibility to not only dynamically allocate IT resources according to the needs of a specific organization, but also allows for a significant increase in the level of automation and take advantage of new and rapidly evolving approaches to IT infrastructure management: AIOps. AIOps can be described as artificial intelligence standing guard over IT infrastructure. This relatively new approach to enterprise IT infrastructure management uses machine-trained algorithms and big data analytics to improve automation and streamline all IT processes.
